Several looted on gunpoint in Mardan
MARDAN: Unidentified gunmen looted several people at their ‘checkpoint’ on Babani Road in the Chura Police Station limits on Saturday evening, police and local sources said.Mohammad Izhar Bacha reported to police that he and his brother Mohammad Riaz were on way back from Mardan city to Babani village on their motorbike when eight unidentified gunmen intercepted them a few metres from the police station.
He said the gunmen took both of them to the nearby fields and tied them up. He said two of the men guarded them while others went to the road and brought four more persons to the fields. He said the gunmen then snatched three motorbikes, eight mobile phones, Rs24,300 cash and Rs7,500 prize bonds from all the ‘hostages.’
He said that later one of the armed men telephoned someone and after a few moments a car arrived at the spot and some of the gunmen fled in the car while others took the motorbikes towards Babani village.
