Karachi: Deprived of 2 loved ones and a car
KARACHI: General Secretary of the KESC Shareholders’ Association Choudhry Mazhar Ali, who has also been a vocal voice against the ill-performance of the privatised power utility, was robbed of his car on the funeral of his niece, a Bhoja Air crash victim, on Sunday. He also lost his aunt in the crash. Mazhar Ali’s niece, Aiman Ikram, and her maternal grandmother were on board the ill-fated flight from Karachi to Islamabad, which crashed near the capital city’s airport on Friday evening. Aiman, a fresh engineering graduate, was going to Islamabad for a job interview, Mazhar Ali told The News on Monday.
“I first attended the funeral prayers of Aiman’s maternal grandmother in Gulshan-e-Iqbal around 10am on Sunday and later in the day went to Masjid Usman on the Allama Rasheed Turabi Road, North Nazimabad, for offering prayers of Aiman,” he added.
Mazhar Ali parked his silver Mehran on Turabi Road with scores of other vehicles of people attending the funeral. The funeral prayers concluded around 2pm. That was when Mazhar Ali found his car had been stolen from outside the mosque. His cellular phone that he had left in the car was also gone.
