Karachi: Man shoots dead mother-in-law, injures wife, her brother
KARACHI: A man, who came to his in-laws’ residence to amicably resolve matters with his wife, ended up shooting his mother–in–law dead on Monday. He also seriously wounded his wife and brother-in-law. Begum Jan, 50, was killed and her daughter Afshan, 20, and 18–year–old son Faizullah were seriously injured after Jamshed Khan, Afshan’s husband, opened fire on the family, following a quarrel between them in Landhi. He managed to escape after the crime.
The wounded were rushed to hospital, after the neighbours heard gunshots. However, Begum Jan was pronounced dead at the hospital. According to the police, Afshan had come to her parents’ house after an altercation with her husband, and Jamshed had decided to pay them a visit to resolve the matter.
Meanwhile, a husband killed his wife and her alleged paramour in the Sohrab Goth police limits. The two had eloped from their native town to live in the city, the police said. Lal Jan, 40, and Said Badshah were killed in Ayub Goth by Mumtaz, who fled the scene after the shooting.
After the police was called in, the two were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Meanwhile, a man was killed while police found a body in a gunny bag. Two men riding a motorcycle opened fire on Zulfiqar, 35, in the Garden area while he was having tea at a cafe. Zulfiqar died while he was being taken to the Civil Hospital. According to the police the deceased had been a middleman and hailed from Multan.
Meanwhile, the bullet–riddled body of Naseem Khan, 40, was found in a gunny bag near the Qatar Hospital in Orangi Town. The area people had alerted the police about the gunny bag. The body, whose hands and legs had been tied, was later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. Police said the man had been a vendor. They thought he had been kidnapped last night by some unidentified people who killed him and then dumped his body in the area.
In another incident, 25–year–old Owais was shot dead by two armed motorcyclists near 4-K Chowrangi in the Surjani Town police limits. The victim was also on his own motorbike when the attack took place.
Passers-by witnessed the incident and rushed to the spot to find Owais lying in a pool of blood. The police was immediately informed and they reached the spot to shift the body to the Abbaasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
The deceased was a salesman at a local company. The Police believed that the man’s murder was a targeted attack. Separately, the bullet–riddled and tortured body of Sohail, 55, was found near the 2-K bus Stop of North Nazimabad.
Locals saw the body and informed the Taimuria police. The victim’s hands and legs were tied with a piece of rope. The MLO of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said the corpse showed signs of brutal torture and the deceased had been shot twice. The identity of the victim was established after his national identity card (NIC) was found on his person. The Police said Sohail was kidnapped by unidentified criminals, who after killing him at an unknown location, dumped his body in their jurisdiction.
