Karachi: Youth shot dead in Clifton
KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in Shireen Jinnah Colony near a private hospital within the remit of the Boat Basin police station late on Saturday, police said. They said that the 26–year–old victim, Asif Iqbal, was a resident of DHA Phase-V, Florida Homes. On the Saturday night, he along with his father and a brother was returning home after having dinner at a restaurant situated near Keamari when they were intercepted by two suspects on a motorcycle near the Ziauddin Hospital in Clifton.
After an exchange of hot words, the suspects opened fire on him, the police said. The young man suffered fatal gunshot wounds and died on the spot, they added. His body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico–legal formalities.
Saddar division SP Farrukh said that according to the victim’s family, they had dinner in Keamari where Asif had a fight with someone, but the matter was resolved by the people present there.
The SP said that it could be that fight at the restaurant that resulted in his killing. He said the victim’s father was a retired customs officer and the victim was a student. The victim’s family took away his body, saying they would lodge a case after the funeral.
