Khanewal: Police bust rustlers’ gang
KHANEWAL: The police claimed to have busted a rustlers’ gang by arresting its six members. The police also recovered cattle heads including buffaloes, cows, cars, motorcycle and weapons from their possession. According to a press release issued here by DPO Dr Waqar Abbasi, a host of complaints were received from citizens regarding cattle theft. Spring into action, the police conducted separate raids in different areas of Mian Channu. During the operation, six members of the cattle–lifter gang including its ringleader Maskeen alias Kka, son of Muhammad Shafi, a resident of 19/9R Katcha Khu, Fayazur Rehman alias Pomi, Shahzadur Rehman, Shahid Hussain, Ghulam Sarwar and Munawar Shahzad were rounded up.
Three of their accomplices are yet to be arrested. The DPO said that the police also recovered six buffalos, two cows, a car and a motorcycle from their possession. He pointed out that the police had also recovered illicit arms including a pistol 30-bore, repeater/pump action, a revolver 32–bore and bullets from the criminals.
The DPO also disclosed that dozen of cases were traced out against the gang members in different police stations. The district police chief lauded the efforts of DSP Ejaz Masood, SHO Muhammad Waseem, SI Falak Sher, ASI Fayyaz Hussain and other subordinates.
DPO help sought: A brick-kiln worker, a resident of Chak 391/JB Kainthan, has demanded DPO Ahsan Younis to order registration of a kidnapping–for–ransom against six accused for kidnapping his wife namely Gulnaz Gogi.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, he claimed that on April 19, he was working at a kiln when the accused including Abbas and Ashraf and their four unidentified accomplices abducted his wife at gunpoint.
He claimed that later the accused called him on his cellphone and demanded Rs300,000 as ransom for the release of his wife. He appealed to the DPO to take notice of the injustice and highhandedness and order registration of a kidnapping case against the accused.
