QUETTA: CCPO Quetta Captain retried Mir Zubair Mehmood said that police have arrested seven suspects and seized two explosive laden vehicles from Kuchlak area on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference here at Kuchalq Police station on Wednesday, he said that on receiving information, a police patrolling team headed by Station House Officer Jalal Tareen intercepted two explosive laden vehicles near Railway Gate on Khuclak–Bostan road near Sahibzada petroleum service station within limits of PS Kuchlak and arrested seven suspects besides seizing these vehicles. The vehicles were loaded with lethal explosives and weapons. Bomb disposal squad teams have been called in to inspect the seized explosives, he added.
RAWALPINDI: Police, during an action against the vehicle lifters, recovered two stolen motorcycles, besides nabbing the robbers, informed police spokesman here on Wednesday. According to him, officials of Police Station (PS) New Town arrested one Asif and seized stolen a Honda 125 motorcycle while PS Waris Khan officials also held one vehicle lifter Abid and recovered a stolen motorcycle from his custody. Separate cases have been filed against the vehicle lifters while further investigation was on, he added.
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have nabbed 92 absconders involved in crime of heinous nature during the last three weeks in its special crackdown against outlaws, a police spokesman said here on Wednesday. Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan has assigned the task to all police officials to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders as well as court absconders and inform his office on the daily basis about success in this special crackdown. He also directed all SDPOs launch massive crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders. In compliance of these directions, SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik ordered all heads of police stations of Islamabad to start their renewed efforts to arrest outlaws. A total of 92 absconders including proclaimed offenders and court absconders have been apprehended during the last three weeks.
OKARA: Police on Wednesday unearthed two running distilleries and recovered 190 litres brewed wine in separate incidents here. On a tip off, the Gogera police raided Shirinad village and arrested Umar Hayat with 50 litres brewed wine. The Haveli police raided the house of Ijaz and arrested him with 140 litres wine.
LAHORE: The Punjab Highways Patrol (PHP) arrested two robbers, two proclaimed offenders, a wanted criminal and reunited two missing children with their parents on Wednesday. The arrested accused men have been identified as Adil of Faisalabad, Abbas alias Basu of Sheikhupura, Nasir of Sahiwal and Ansar of Sargodha. Similarly, two lost children Muhammad Hafiz, son of Muhammad Arif of Korewala Jhang, and Azmat Ali, son of Rehmat Ali of Khariyan Gujrat were recovered by the PHP and were handed over to the families as well.
SWABI: The motorway police recovered a stolen car and arrested two men traveling in it from Rawalpindi to Peshawar on Wednesday. The police stopped the car (LOM–6996) after receiving information that two men had snatched a taxi car from its driver by giving him some sedatives in Rawalpindi. They said the car driver after regaining consciousness informed the police about the incident and the police on the motorway were alerted. The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Shahzad and Rashid of Rawalpindi.
ISLAMABAD: At least eleven persons were nabbed including eight women by the Islamabad police from different areas and heroine and one pistol was recovered from them here the other day. On a tip off Sub Inspector Muhammad Ali with police contingent headed by Incharge CIA Bashir Ahmed Noon arrested Maqsood Ahmed from the area of Pindora and seized 1 Kg 15 gram heroine from him and registered case against him.
KARACHI: An anti–terrorism court sentenced on Wednesday two extortionists to five years in prison. The court found Mohammad Asif and Yad Ali guilty of extorting money from a dairy farmer within the remit of the Steel Town police station in December 2011. The court also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 each and in case of default the convicts would undergo an additional six-month imprisonment. Another three years term was also awarded to both the convicts in illicit weapons cases and the court imposed a fine of Rs5,000 each. The convicts would undergo another three-month imprisonment if the fine was not paid.
LAHORE: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 Central arrested a member of car snatcher gang after an encounter with the culprits on Wednesday. The officers of NH&MP Akif Nishat and Akram were busy in speed checking of the vehicles near Chechawatni when they were informed by the Sahiwal control room that armed men had snatched a corolla car (LED–5269). The officers stopped the car occupied by five persons and started its search. Two persons came out of the car and started firing at motorway police officers that was retaliated. As a result, Akram received a bullet in his leg. After exchange of the fire, one culprit Asad Maqbool of Chechawatni was arrested while others managed to escape from the crime scene.
