Islamabad: Bid to smuggle heroin to Qatar foiled
ISLAMABAD: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF recovered five kilograms of heroin powder from the baggage of a Qatar–bound passenger on Tuesday. The ANF staff arrested the passenger hailing from Gujrat at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) when he was proceeding abroad in a Qatar Airlines flight on Tuesday morning, ANF sources said. The ANF team later arrested another man who had provided him with heroin and has links with an international racket of drug smugglers. The ANF said that during checking of passengers of a Qatar Airways flight QR-399, a passenger identified as Umar Farooq was intercepted and taken to the ANF counter.
During search of his baggage, five kilograms of heroin powder was found packed in secret parts of his luggage. The arrested passenger, during investigation, disclosed that Wajid, a resident of Sagri, provided him with heroin, the ANF said adding that they also arrested Wajid from Sagri.
