Karachi: ACLC arrests ‘smuggler’
KARACHI: The Anti–Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) Gadap Town on Tuesday arrested an alleged smuggler and recovered one dozen luxury motorcar engines from him. The town investigation officer (TIO) Gadap Asghar Naqvi acting on a tip-off that some smugglers were trying to smuggle luxury motorcar engines from Quetta to Karachi via road along with the ACLC team started checking vehicles on the Super Highway. The TIO saw a bus (BSA–927) approaching. The ACLC team signalled them to stop.
The driver of the vehicle saw the police and accelerated. The police chased the vehicle and arrested the bus driver Qaseem Khan. During the search of the vehicle they recovered one dozen luxury motorcar engines. Meanwhile a motorcyclist Muhammad Hassan, 40, was knocked dead when a hit-and-run vehicle ran him over near the Gora Qabaristan on Sharea Faisal in the Saddar police limits.
