Multan Police bust 18 gangs
MULTAN: The district police have smashed 18 gangs of car and motorbike snatchers, animal and vehicle lifters and arrested 90 gangsters besides recovering booty worth over Rs25 million from their possession. The gangs include Zulfiqar alias Pappu Gang, Sharif alias Sharifa Gang, Rizwan alias Jhoola Gang, Asif Gang, Riaz Gag, Mujahid Hans Gang, Kamran Gang, Azam alias Azmi Gang, Muhammad Shafi alias Channa Gang, Ijaz Waloha Gang, Ghulam Abbas alias Abbasu Gang, Iqbal Gang, Arif alias Ubbi Gang, Safli Gang and Wasim alias Bhola Gang.
Addressing a news conference here at his office on Wednesday, City Police Officer (CPO) Amir Zulfiqar Khan said that 12 gangs were busted by the CIA Staff while six others were arrested by different police stations. He added that over 100 cases were traced against the smashed gangs while two Hig-hace vehicle, 14 motorbikes, 35 cattle heads, six cars, gold ornaments weighing 10 tolas, cash worth Rs8 million, medicine worth Rs1.5 million.
He said that the district police launched a massive crackdown on anti social elements and rounded up 283 proclaimed offenders. “The government has announced head money for many of them and 91 arrested POs fall under A category,” he added. Giving details of police performance, he said that 132 cases of illegal arms and 251 narcotics were registered during the month of April. He added that police recovered one Kalashnikov, five rifles, nine repeaters, 98 pistols, 15 revolvers, four carbines, three daggers and 289 cartridges from the accused. Similarly, 3291 bottles of liquor, 1.42 kg heroine and 18.57 kg charas were also recovered besides unearthing 10 working stills.
