Karachi: Ex-serviceman among 4 killed
KARACHI: Four people, including an ex-serviceman, were mowed down in separate acts of violence in the metropolis on Thursday. A retired soldier was shot dead while two others, among them a police constable, were wounded when unidentified gunmen ambushed them in Frontier Colony in the wee hours of Thursday. The dead serviceman was identified as 40-year-old Saiful Mulk, son of Hashmat Rawan, and the injured as Ismail and Abdul Ghani. The injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment.
According to DSP Tariq Malik, the victim hailed from Peshawar. He said he was going with his friends when the attackers targeted them. The police official suspected that personal enmity might be the reason behind the attack. The body was handed over to the heirs. No case was registered till the filing of this report. Separately, a young man and a girl were killed in the name of honour in Sultanabad area. Identified as Raheema, 20, and her neighbour Shahbaz Khan, 28, son of Sada Khan, the victims were killed by the girl’s father, namely Hayat Khan with a sharp edge weapon. According to SHO Ghulam Rasool Rajper, the victims’ families belonged to Waziristan.
The bodies were shifted to the ASH for medico-legal formalities, and later handed over to the heirs. No case was registered till the filing of this report. Police officials said Hayat Khan and his two sons, who were also said to be his accomplices, fled after committing the crime.
In another incident, police found body of a man from a nullah in Jumah Goth within the precincts of the Ibrahim Hyderi Police Station. Identity of the victim could not be ascertained.
The victim had been shot in the temple. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification.
A case has been registered against unidentified killers.
