Karachi: Man who threatened to hijack PIA plane released on bail
KARACHI: An anti–terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday released on bail a man who had threatened to hijack a PIA Karachi–Bhawalpur flight. Javed Ansari was booked under anti–terrorism charges by the airport police for threatening a crew member on the flight with hijacking the plane. According to the police, the accused, who was travelling on Bhawalpur–bound PIA flight PK–586 carrying 50 passengers and a crew of five, had issued the threat soon after the flight took off from the Karachi airport at about 1pm.
The investigation officer in the case submitted a report before the presiding judge of the ATC, saying that no sufficient evidence was found against him. The ATC headed by Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso directed the investigation officer to submit the final investigation report.
