Rawalpindi: Police crackdown on criminals
RAWALPINDI: During its ongoing campaign against anti–social elements, the local police have arrested 18 drug peddlers, gamblers and illegal arms holders from various localities of the city. The police also recovered 10 bottles of liquor, 350 grams of Charas, 5 pistols of 30 bore with 18 bullets, Rs 6210 and 7 mobile phones that were put on stake, informed the police spokesman adding that cases have been registered against the accused while the police were also interrogating the detainees.
According to him, the Police Station (PS) Pirwadhai overturned a gambling bid apprehending Kamran, Saqib, Imran, Nasir, Abid, Asif and Naseer and recovering Rs 6210 cash and 7 mobile phones that were put on stake.
In another action, Ratta Amral filed cases against Khurram Shehzad for having a 30 bore pistol and 5 bullets without licence Zahid Mehmood whereas Mumraiz Khan and Zahid Razzaq after recovering Charas from their possession. Sadiqabad police also arrested Tufail on account of keeping a 30 bore pistol and 5 bullets illegally; PS Waris Khan officials held Saghar for having 30 bore pistol with 4 bullets without lisence and PS Murree officials nabbed Babar after recovering a 30 bore pistol from him.
Westridge police while taking action against the liquor sellers, captured one Rashid and recovered 10 bottles of alcohol from him.
Similarly, RA Bazaar and Gawalmandi police held two drunk persons namely Irshad and Ghulam Muhammad and put them behind the bars after filing cases against them.
