Islamabad: Kidnapped trader recovered
ISLAMABAD: The Industrial Area police recovered a trader three days after he was kidnapped for ransom and arrested two of his abductors. Superintendent of Police Ishaq Warraich told a news conference on Thursday that the kidnap victim had been recovered in Gujrat. He said an accomplice of the kidnappers escaped while two persons were arrested and brought to the capital city. The mastermind of the kidnapping turned out to be the brother-in-law of the victim, a lecturer by profession who is now abroad, he added.
The police officer said Asif Mehmood, a businessman of spare-parts in Gunjmandi, disappeared while returning to his home at I-9/1 on May 7. On the complaint of his brother Malik Sohail, the police launched a search and found the victim’s car abandoned at Katarian. The next day, the victim’s wife received a call from the cell phone of her husband and the caller demanded Rs40 million for his release.
