Rawalpindi: Woman killed for ‘honour’
RAWALPINDI: A divorced woman was strangulated allegedly by her nephew in the name of honor in Saddar Barooni area on Thursday, police said. Ms Farhat Bashir, 32, had been residing with her three children at her sister’s house since she was divorced a year ago. Police said that she was spotted talking to someone on her cell phone by her nephew Rustam Shahzad who taunted her and later allegedly strangulated her with the help of his friend.“First they tried to give the impression that she had committed suicide and were about to leave with her body for their native town, Mandi Bahauddin for burial. However, a policeman residing in the street became suspicious. Later, he called the police,” the investigating officer said.
He said that after a brief questioning, the suspects were taken into custody. The body was removed to a hospital for postmortem.
