Lahore: PR GM’s remand extended
LAHORE: An accountability court on Saturday extended for 14 days the physical remand of railways general manager Saeed Akhtar to the NAB, Punjab, for allegedly selling bulk of scarp on less than normal rates, causing enormous loss to the railways department. On Saturday, NAB authorities produced the accused before the court and sought extension in his physical remand for further probe into the matter.
On this, the court extended for 14 days the physical remand of the accused, directing NAB to produce him again by May 26 along with investigation report till that date. The accused said he had been implicated in a false case as the contract of railway scarp was announced by the ministry of railway, and he had nothing to do with the case. He told the court that around 4,000 tons scrap was sold while the rest of 21,000 tons was in the railway’s custody.
