Rawalpindi: 2 arms smugglers held: Weapons seized
RAWALPINDI: During a successful action, police officials recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions, besides capturing two smugglers at Fateh Jang Road, the limits of Police Check Post Hameedian. The arrested weapon smugglers were identified as Gull Khan, a resident of Nowshera, and Zaman, a resident of Kohat, from whom police seized 9 pump actions, 10 repeaters, 5 Pashpashay (small Kalashnikovs), 38 pistols and 35,000 bullets being transported in a pickup bearing registration number LES 9070, informed Station House Officer (SHO) PS Westridge Malik Allah Yar on Tuesday. Police also impounded the vehicle.
According to Inspector Allah Yar, police, on a tip off that a huge quantity of arms and ammunitions would be smuggled from Peshawar to different areas of Punjab via Fateh Jang Road, enhanced patrolling on the roads besides placing Nakas at different points. On a suspicion, he said police signalled to stop a white colour pickup being driven by two Pathans. During course of search, police found a huge cache of weapons have been coincided in secret places of the vehicle, he added.
Police took the two smugglers and weapons into custody and impounded the vehicle.
A case has been registered against the accused whereas further interrogation was underway, informed SHO.
