Islamabad: 89 criminals caught; cash, 112 cell phones recovered
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police, during the current year so far, have arrested 89 persons for their alleged involvement in street crime and claimed to have recovered 112 mobile phones and looted cash from them, a police spokesman has said. The arrests, said the spokesman, were the result of directions of Islamabad Inspector of Police Bani Amin Khan to Islamabad SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik, who had then asked all police officials, including SHOs, to launch “an aggressive campaign against those involved in street crime.”
During this drive, said the spokesman, the Capital police obtained the record of all those persons who had remained involved in street crime and arrested 89 of them. Giving break-up of the arrests, the spokesman said the City Zone police arrested 34 criminals and recovered 29 mobile phones and cash from them. The Saddar Zone police, he said, caught 26 more and recovered 48 cell phones.
Likewise, the Industrial Areas police arrested 17 criminals and recovered 28 phones from them while the Rural Zone cops caught 12 more of them and also recovered seven cell phones and some looted cash from their possession.
