Lahore: Police arrest 878 criminals, recover stolen properties
LAHORE: Police arrested 878 hardened criminals and recovered stolen property worth more than Rs 15 crore, 27 lakh, during the first four months of the current year, whereas 1,638 cases have been traced against the arrestees. More than 14,000 proclaimed offenders and court absconders have also been arrested. Police recovered more than Rs 89 lakh in cash, 81 cars, 364 motorcycles, 778 mobile phones, 71 tolas gold ornaments, prize bonds worth Rs 45,000, three wagons, two pick–ups, six rickshaw, and nine other valuables. 8,034 proclaimed offenders and 6,477 court absconders were also arrested during this period.
1,713 cases were registered and 1,713 culprits were arrested during a campaign against illegal weapons.
Separately, during its drive against drug sellers, police arrested 3,379 culprits and recovered more than 80 kg heroine, 343 kg charas, more than 15 kg opium, 121 intoxicating pills, 245 injections and 18,535 bottles of liquor from the possession of criminals. Moreover, 2,318 gamblers were arrested and Rs 31 lakh recovered from their possession.
The city investigation police also claimed to have arrested 24 members of different gangs and recovered valuables worth Rs 10 million during the last 15 days.
