Taxila: 280kg charas seized
TAXILA: National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) confiscated huge quantity of drugs on Islamabad–Peshawar Motorway (M-1) and arrested a member of inter-provincial gang on Friday. Briefing the newsmen in Hassanabdal, Sector Commander (M-1) SSP Asim Gulzar said acting on a tip off, the NHMP patrolling staff foiled the attempt to smuggle 280 kg of charas from Peshawar to Islamabad which was hidden in secret parts of a car (IDD-1518) near Taxila.
While giving details, the SSP said Inspector Fayyaz Sarwar along with Sub–inspector Asif Khattak tried to stop the vehicle but the driver sped away. He lost control over the vehicle, hit a Mazda (FDW–1133) and stopped. The NHMP officers, on approach, searched the vehicle and recovered 280 packets of charas (weighing one kg each). They also provided first aid to the injured smuggler at the spot and later arrested him.
He said the narcotics smuggler, identified as A.R. was a resident of Namak Mandi Peshawar.
