KARACHI: Judicial Magistrate (East) remanded another alleged serial killer (third one) identified as Mazhar Iqbal in police custody on Monday. He was nabbed from inside his rickshaw parked near Qauid’s mausoleum on Sunday. The Soldier Bazar police had earlier arrested two suspects, Athar Ali Rizvi and his accomplice Rafiq Soomro, for allegedly strangulating two women after subjecting them to gang rape. According to police, all the three suspects used to chop the bodies of their victims into pieces so that they could easily dump them in different parts of the metropolis. The police had also recovered some body parts of the victims from the surroundings of Mazar-e-Quaid.
Earlier, the police had arrested Rafiq Soomro who disclosed the names of his accomplices, revealing that they killed two women and a girl after sexually assaulting them during the last few months.
The police claimed that the suspects had been committing such crimes on a particular date i.e. 9th of every month. Being rickshaw drivers, they used to pick their victims as passengers and take them to a rented apartment in Patel Para area, where they subjected these women to rape and later strangled them to death.
