Rawalpindi: Man accused of trying to kill a family remanded
RAWALPINDI: Civil Judge Saeed Barkat here on Monday handed over a man, who allegedly attempted to kill more than 10 family members at Dhok Dalal, into police custody on a two–day physical remand. The court ordered police to produce the accused again on May 23. The Ganjmandi Police Station had registered a case against Sanfar Khan, who allegedly attempted to kill Muhammad Naeem Awan and his family members on May 19. Police arrested the accused and recovered different kinds of guns from his possession. According to details, one year back, Sanfar Khan occupied five–kanal land and all business of Muhammad Naeem Awan. The accused showed fake papers of business and five–kanal land and occupied them.
Muhammad Naeem Awan approached the court and got back his business and 5–kanal land from him after a compromise. But, the accused had personal grudge with Muhammad Naeem Awan and his family members. On May 19, the accused at 11:55 p.m. telephoned Muhammad Naeem and said to open the door because he was coming to meet him. As Muhammad Naeem opened the door, Sanfar Khan opened fire. Muhammad Naeem narrowly escaped from the firing and closed all doors to protect the lives of his family members. The accused continued firing for half an hour and created fear among residents of the area.
