Chief warden of Machh jail gunned down
QUETTA: The chief warden of a prison was killed in a drive-by shooting in Machh town of Kachi Bolan district on Tuesday. According to police, Chief Warden Shaukat Ali was going home after performing his duty when gunmen on a bike opened fire on him. He suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on way to hospital.
His body was handed over to his family after autopsy. Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, a banned religious outfit, claimed responsibility for the killing of the warden. Its spokesman told reporters from an unidentified place that the warden used to torture the detained activists of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi. Machh police registered a case and started investigation.
A few days ago, unidentified men had gunned down a warden of the Huda District Jail in Quetta soon after he came out of the jail building.
