Peshawar: Excise official gets life imprisonment for drug smuggling
PESHAWAR: A local court on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to an employee of Excise and Taxation department after the prosecution proved narcotics smuggling charges against him. Additional District and Sessions Judge Kohat Nusrat Yasmeen awarded 25 years sentence with fine of Rs100, 000 to head constable of Excise and Taxation Kohat, Muhammad Ikram, son of Muhammad Jan and a resident of Haripur, in narcotics smuggling case.
According to public prosecutor, police officials of Muhammad Riaz Shaheed Police Station on December 27, 2011 raided a residential quarter of the head constable at the Railways Colony and recovered 24 kg narcotics from his possession. After recording the statements of prosecution witnesses and hearing arguments of both parties, the court announced the conviction.
