Karachi: 153 political activists targeted in city since Feb 15
KARACHI: Over a hundred and fifty people — political activists, policemen and religious scholars — lost their lives in target killing incidents in the city since February 15. They include 37 workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), 27 of National Awami Party (ANP), 20 of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and one each of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML–N). Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat lost five workers, Jafferia Alliance five supporters, Sunni Tehrik six activists and Sipah–e–Sahaba lost one supporter, while two religious scholars were gunned down in the city during the said period.
Twelve activists of People’s Amn Committee, five of Kutchi Rabita Committee, four of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) and one of Jeay Sindh Tehrik (JST) were killed, while three lawyers, including a father and his son, were targeted during the said period.
Besides, at least 24 policemen fell prey to target killing incidents in the city.
