Karachi: AVCC, CPLC recover 2 abductees; 1 killed
KARACHI: Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) have recovered two abductees in a joint raid at the cost of a hostage and a cop from Hyderabad on Wednesday. CPLC Chief Ahmad Chinoy said the joint team headed by Ahmad Chinoy raided on the secret information at Alamdar Chowk, Qasimabad and recovered two hostages Dr Ashok Kumar and his mother while another abductee y Dr Aftab Qureshi was killed by the kidnappers during encounter with police. He said the kidnappers had also opened indiscriminate gunshots on police that led killing of an ASI of AVCC Arshad.
In retaliation, the joint team killed a kidnapper. He said the identity of the kidnapper was yet to be ascertained, while the joint team during encounter killed him when he was trying to flee from the crime scene. Ahmad Chinoy said two other abductees Dr Ashok and his mother were safely recovered from captive. Moreover, the CPLC chief said the recovered hostages hailed from Hyderabad while the deceased Dr Aftab, who the resident of Karachi, was kidnapped near Taj Complex, Saddar. He said the abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs 1 million for the release of Dr Aftab. Further investigation was underway to nab other absconded kidnappers.
