Lahore: Maximum criminal cases resolved, claims CIA
LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) claimed to have traced maximum criminal cases of heinous nature and filed challans with increase of 47 percent in first five month of the current year, as compared to the corresponding period of the last year, 2011. A deputy inspector general said that maximum number of blind murders, which are never traced so easily, have been resolved during this span of time. According to an official report, a copy of which is available with The Nation, overall 435 cases of blind murders, dacoity–cum–murder, robbery–cum–murder, kidnapping for ransom, dacoity and robbery have been resolved in five months – January to May 29 – of the current year.
However, only 295 cases of the same nature were traced in the same era of the last year 2011. Overall, the performance of the CIA, a branch of the Investigation Wing of Lahore Police, has been enhanced by 47.45 percent during this timing, as the wing has traced 17 blind murders, five cases of robbery–cum–murder, six of kidnapping for ransom, 55 cases of dacoity and 352 cases of robbery. According to the document, only 10 cases of blind murders were traced, one case of robbery-cum-murder, seven cases of kidnapping for ransom, 17 of dacoity and 260 cases of robbery were traced in first five months of the 2011.
The report further revealed that the CIA Wing, with total strength of 523 officers including 40 officers working at the SP Office, has busted 58 criminal gangs, rounded up 238 members of these gangs and recovered Rs60.59 million from their possession. Similarly, three proclaimed offenders listed in top 20 gangsters of the Punjab capital, two POs listed in Black Book and around 331 Pos of A-Category have been arrested in 150 days of the current year. The dangerous criminals including Muhammad Habib, son of M Ishaq, Munir Ahmed, son of Lal Khan, Riasat Ali, son of Nazir Ahmed and Muhammad Riaz alias Raja alias Riaz–ud–Din have also been apprehended.
CIA SP Liaqat Ali told The Nation effective strategies and utilisation of modern investigation techniques by the CIA investigators brought positive results. He said besides working for CIA Lahore, the investigators have handed over 10 gangsters to Kasur Police; 14 to Sheikhupura; seven to Okara; three to Faisalabad; six to Gujranwala; three to Bahawalnagar; two to Nankana Saheb; three to Gujrat; one to Pakpattan; one to Rahim Yar Khan; one to Peshawar; two to Sargodha; one to Bahawalpur and one to Narowal Police during this period.
He said IGP Habib-ur-Rehman and CCPO Muhammad Aslam Tareen were encouraging the CIA Police. The CIA SP further said that four bank dacoities including Johar Town, Tibbi City, Shadbagh and Ichra were traced within 24 hours.
