Quetta: 7 arrested with 2,000 kg of explosives, 110 anti person mines, 616 RCS
QUETTA: CCPO Quetta Captain retried Mir Zubair Mehmood said that police have arrested seven suspects and seized two explosive laden vehicles from Kuchlak area on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference here at Kuchalq Police station on Wednesday, he said that on receiving information, a police patrolling team headed by Station House Officer Jalal Tareen intercepted two explosive laden vehicles near Railway Gate on Khuclak–Bostan road near Sahibzada petroleum service station within limits of PS Kuchlak and arrested seven suspects besides seizing these vehicles. The vehicles were loaded with lethal explosives and weapons. Bomb disposal squad teams have been called in to inspect the seized explosives, he added.
As many as 2,980 detonators, 2,000 kg of explosives, 110 anti person mines and 616 remote control systems have recovered from the trucks, CCPO said while giving the details of the explosives recovered during the raid.
“Some sacks of potassium chloride which could be used in the fireworks and other explosives have also been recovered.”
To a question regarding the identity of the detained suspects, he said that the arrested suspects are being interrogated, adding according to initial investigation, they might not be Pakistani.
Zubair while quoting preliminary investigation maintained that apparently, the accused wanted to smuggle the explosives and weapons to Quetta in order to commit a sabotage act.
Earlier, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Raisani lauding the performance of police announced cash and promotion of the raiding team to next grades.
