Lahore: CIA arrests 55 accused, busts 5 gang
LAHORE: CIA Police Lahore claimed to have arrested 55 accused of five criminal gangs including abduction for ransom and recovered gold ornaments, electronics gadgets worth Rs over 20 million besides illegal weapons. Addressing a press conference at CIA Kotwali here on Thursday, Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Aslam said it was a big achievement and best performance of CIA Police. Giving details, he said that police arrested four kidnappers involved in abducting Nabeel Arshad of Nawan Kot for Rs 10 million, Muhammad Khalid of Joher Town for Rs 5 million, Ali Muhammad of Joher Town for 4 million, Mohsan Raza of Kot Lakhpat for Rs 800,000. Police are conducting raids for arresting remaining six accused of Kamran alias Kami gangs, he added.
The CCPO said that police smashed an inter-district dacoit gang (Asif Ashraf alias Burgar) and arrested its 15 gangsters. Police had traced 85 cases against them. During preliminary interrogation gangsters confessed of 203 cases in various cities including 118 cases in Lahore, 2 in Kasur, 12 in Sheikhupura, 3 in Sahiwal, 8 in Faisalabad, 6 in Sargodha, 29 in Rawalpindi, 14 in Multan, 3 in Bahawalpur and 8 in Karachi.
He said that police also arrested 36 members of other dacoit gangs and traced 51 cases against the accused.
On the occasion, the CCPO stressed the police officers to work more efficiently for bringing down the increasing graph of crimes in provincial metropolis.
