Islamabad: Home minister Balochistan emerges as PO in kidnapping for ransom case
ISLAMABAD: Home Minister Balochistan, Sardar Zafarullah Zehri, who gave statements against some provincial ministers for their involvement in kidnap for ransom incidents, himself emerged as proclaimed offender (PO) in a kidnap for ransom case. He and four other accused were declared proclaimed offenders in kidnapping of Danni Bux, son of Karim Bux, and, for ransom, and FIR had been registered against them on December 8, 2004 at the Police Station Brohi Road. Zafarullah Zehri’s case was reopened when Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry ordered his production in the same case a few days back.
It was revealed that earlier three accused appeared in court and proved their innocence while Zafarullah Zehri and another nominated accused Shahid Javed did not appear in any court. On this, a judicial magistrate declared them proclaimed offenders. Police did not arrest them despite their roaming freely rather the case had been closed against them. According to sources, friends of Zafarullah Zehri suggested to him to get bail before arrest to prevent his possible arrest and appear in the SC Zehri filed an application in the court of Session Judge Quetta, Rashid Mehmood.
The court admitted his interim bail till June 7 and ordered reopening of his case and after that he appeared in the SC. When contacted head Moharrir, Haleem of Police Station Brohi Road, confirmed that Zafarullah was declared a proclaimed offender in kidnap for ransom case. Zafarullah Zehri said that this was a political case and if he was involved in any such case his nomination papers could have been rejected.
