Karachi: 9000 cellphones, 8000 bikes snatched in first 5 months of the year
KARACHI: In the city, where target killing and receiving of brutally murdered dead bodies of the citizen after kidnapping persists, at the same time karachiites are deprived of cars, motorcycles and mobiles phones worth millions of rupees. More than 10,000 cars, bikes and 9000 mobiles phone have been snatched only in the first five months of the current year. No concrete measures seems to be taken by Aakhtar Gorchani, the head of Karachi police, which shows his serious concerns about the current situation of law and order.
According to the statistics of Citizens-Police Liaison Committee commonly known as CPLC during the first five months of the year 2012, 2,273 vehicles have been theft or snatched, in January 456 people stripped of their vehicles out of which 124 were snatched and the number of theft vehicles was 332. In February out of 445 vehicles 101 were snatched and 344 were theft. In March out of 430, 105 were snatched whereas 325 were theft. In April out of the total 432 vehicles, 117 were snatched, 315 were robbed. Whereas the maximum cases of vehicle jacking were in month of May, out of 510, 157 vehicles were snatched and 353 were fleeced.
