Karachi: Police baton charge NPIW protestors
KARACHI: Police restored to baton charge and tear gas shelling here on Monday when hundreds of protesters of National Programme for Improvement of Watercourses Sindh (NPIW) tried to march from Karachi Press Club to Chief Minister House police. At least 22 protestors were arrested. The NPIW employees have been protesting for last three month outside the KPC, demanding regularization of their jobs.
They said police arrested more than 22 protesting employees including their Vice Chairman Rafique Laghari, President District Badin chapter Sanaullah, President Khairpur chapter Zulfiqar Bohiyo and others. They demanded of the government to release the arrested workers and order regularization of their jobs.
