Karachi: Senior banker kidnapped in Gulshan
KARACHI: A senior employee of a private bank was kidnapped in Block 9 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal in the Aziz Bhatti police limits late on Sunday night. The executive vice president of Silk Bank, Sohail Iqbal Shaikh, along with his gardener, had gone to a nursery to buy plants situated in a lane near the Federal Urdu University for Arts, Science and Technology on University Road. He was buying plants when three men riding on a motorcycle arrived there and kidnapped him at gunpoint, Ahmed Chinoy, chief of the Citizens–Police Liaison Committee, told The News on Monday.
The kidnappers, who were wearing shalwar-kameez, bundled the senior banker into his Prado jeep (BD–4412) and sped away, leaving the gardener behind, Chinoy said.
The jeep was later found abandoned near Chamra Chowrangi in the Korangi Industrial Area.
Chinoy said that the abductors had not yet contacted the family for ransom. Police said that Shaikh’s brother Rehan lodged an FIR at the Aziz Bhatti police station.
