Lahore: 1.6kg gold looted
LAHORE: Traders blocked a road in Shadbagh area after robbers looted 1.6kg gold worth millions from a jewellery shop on Monday. The protesters burnt tyres and chanted anti–police slogans against the rising incidence of robbery at jewellery shops. A group of 12 robbers entered Asif Jewellers in Wassanpura and escaped after looting gold worth millions by holding security guard and owner Haji Jahangir at gunpoint.
According to police, CCTV cameras were installed in the shop but the incident took place during power outage. Shadbagh police have registered a case.
Some robbers looted Rs2.6 million from the cash van of a Total filling station in Chuhng police station limits. Police termed the incident suspicious.
