Peshawar: Lashkars still intact: official
PESHAWAR: Superintendent of Police (SP–Rural) Peshawar Shafiullah Khan has said the pro-government peace committees (lashkars) constituted in the rural parts of the provincial capital are intact and working in collaboration with the police to maintain law and order. Speaking a press conference at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines along with a leader of the Bazidkhel Amn Lashkar, Fahimur Rahman and members of the Adezai Amn Lashkar, the SP Rural said all the peace committees were functioning well.
Leader of the Adezai Amn Lashkar, Dilawar Khan had recently announced disbanding his group as it wasn’t being supported by the police and the provincial government in countering militants’ attacks on the city.
“The “Amn Lashkars” are working effectively along with the police. We have been supporting them in all the affairs while talks are on with the provincial government authorities to give them more incentives,” said Shafiullah Khan.
The absence of Dilawar Khan was felt by the media on this occasion, but the police officials said the members of his family and lashkar are very much present in the press conference.
