Islamabad: Fake FBI agent arrested
ISLAMABAD: The City Zone Police on Thursday arrested a fake Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent, by setting a trap for him, and recovered Rs 2 million from him. According to a police official, the man would entice the simpletons, saying that he worked for America’s FBI and had US dollars, which he can sell at a rate lower than in the market. To gain confidence of his victims, the agent would sell $500 to $1,000. For the next time, the cop said, the man would call them to bring bigger amounts. In some cases he succeeded in getting up to Rs 5 million for exchange of dollars and vanished, the policeman added.
His service card (of FBI, US) and two CNIC cards identified him as Riaz Khan and Hayat Khan. However, his original name is Hayat Khan. In one of the case, complainant Raja Hameed Ahmed Saleem stated that he has relations with one Tariq Hayat Khan. In continuation to his relation with the said person, he met Riaz Khan, introduced himself as an American secret agency official and added that he has relations with foreigners.
