Lahore: 2‘robbers’ killed in police encounter
LAHORE: Ghalib Market police gunned down two accused robbers in an ‘encounter’ near Home Economic College on Thursday. The killed accused robbers have not been identified yet. Ghalib Market police started interrogating the matter after removing the bodies to Mayo Hospital morgue. Police officials said the SHO and his team were on routine patrolling at around 2:30am when they saw two suspected persons, riding a bike (LEK–3707), behind Home Economics College. Police said that officials of Muhafiz Squad signaled them to stop but the unidentified motorcyclists tried to escape without proving their identity.
Police said the officials of Muhafiz Squad tried to round up the motorcyclists, upon which, they opened fires on the police party.
Officials of Muhafiz Squad also retaliated and both motorcyclists sustained multiple bullet wounds during crossfire. However, the police officials remained unhurt ‘miraculously.’ Police rushed them to hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
Police have started a search for their heirs. Police also seized two pistols from the possession of two motorcyclists. Police officials also impounded the motorcycle.
A police official claimed that the deceased persons were hardened criminal and were wanted by police in different incidents of robberies and snatching incidents despite the fact that the deceased persons had still not been identified.
The number of the bike has also proved fake. A case has been registered against them on the complaint of SHO Rana Akmal.
On the other hand, sources in police claimed that the accused persons were already in the custody of Ghalib Market police and they had been killed in a ‘fake encounter.’
