Karachi: KRC member among 5 murdered
KARACHI: A member of the Katchi Rabita Committee (KRC) was among five people murdered in separate incidents in the city on Tuesday. The bullet–riddled body of a man was found near Kharadar Jamaat Khana, opposite Bengal Godown. Baghdadi SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi said the police went to the crime scene and shifted the body to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). The police also aired a message about the body on the police control system. During examination, it was found that the victim was brutally tortured and later shot.
The SHO said a family approached the police and it was shown the pictures of the body. It identified the victim as Mohammed Moosa, a resident of Kalri, who had left home at 11pm on Monday night, but did not return.
He added that the victim was a KRC member and the murder appeared to be part of the ongoing target killing spree. A case was registered and further investigations were under way.
Separately, a man was killed behind Abdullah Haroon College in Khadda Market in the evening.
SHO Afridi said the police took him to the CHK, where he was pronounced dead. The victim, identified as Amjad, had suffered multiple bullet wounds on his body.
Police sleuths said the victim was the owner of a bakery in Khadda Market. Unidentified men kidnapped him from his bakery at gunpoint, took him behind the college building, and shot him.
They said the victim was receiving death threats from a group of extortionists and it seemed that the same group had killed him. Amjad was a resident of Liaquat Colony in Kalri and hailed from Punjab. The police registered an FIR and were furthering probing the case.
In another case, a teenager was attacked on Napier Road near Juna Market in Kharadar.
Kharadar SHO Aga Asadullah said the police went to the crime scene and shifted the youth to the CHK, where he died during treatment.
During investigations, it was found that the victim, 17–year–old Munir, was a resident of Musharraf Colony in Mauripur. He was abducted from his area by unidentified men on a motorcycle on Tuesday evening. They later took him to the Juna Market area, where they shot him and fled.
Investigators believed the murder could be another case of target killing. They found empty 9mm pistol casings at the crime scene that were sent to Sindh Police Laboratory for forensic tests. A case was registered and further investigations were under way.
Late in the night, 35-year-old Noor Mohammed was shot dead in the Orangi Town police limits. Orangi Town SHO Mohammed Naeem said the police rushed to the spot, where they found the victim lying injured inside a rickshaw.
They shifted him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim suffered multiple bullet wounds on his head. He was a rickshaw driver and a resident of Zia Colony in Mominabad. The SHO said the murder might be a case of target killing but they would investigate the possibility of personal enmity as well. A case was registered and further investigations were under way.
In another late night attack, Naseeb Khan was shot dead at the Gharibabad Phatak in Sharifabad.
SDPO Wajahat Hussain of the Liaquatabad Division said the police went to the crime scene, where they found a man lying injured inside a rickshaw. He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died during treatment. The victim suffered multiple bullet wounds on his body. He was a rickshaw driver and a resident of Korangi. Investigators suspected that the murder was another target killing case. They said the police also found empty 9mm pistol shells at the crime scene that were sent to the forensic division. A case was registered and further investigations were under way.
