Gang-rape case involving Chakwal CIA officials
CHAKWAL: Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Pervaiz Akhtar on Thursday issued arrest warrants for HRCP former chairman Kamran Rizvi and Magistrate Dr Mubeen Aslam for not appearing in a gang–rape case as witnesses. The court directed the police to bring both the witnesses on June 20. Kamran Rizvi and Dr Mubeen Aslam had held inquires into a gang–rape case involving the Chakwal CIA officials. Kamran Rizvi had held the inquiry on the direction of the late prime minister Benazir Bhutto in June 1995 and confirmed that the police officials had gang–raped the women.
Dr Mubeen Aslam had denied the gang–rape, saying that the CIA officials had only taken the women to a torture cell. Both the victims were also present in the court. The accused ASI Mukhtar Ahmed, Head Constable Azizullah, Head Constable Ghulam Ahmed, constables Khalid Mehmood, Sheikh Hasnain Mehdi, Ishaq Hasrat and Khalid Awan were also present in court. Owing to the lawyers’ strike, two other witnesses could not record their statements.
