Lakki Marwat: Police arrest 2 smuggling hashish
LAKKI MARWAT: Police have foiled a bid to smuggle a huge quantity of hashish and arrested two alleged narcotics smugglers during an action on Thursday. DPO Umar Riaz said at a news conference in Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police station that on information about the possible attempt of narcotics smuggling a police party headed by SHO Gul Rauf was directed to start searching suspected vehicles and foil the bid at all costs. Flanked by SDPO Lakki Bashar Khan he said that the law enforcers stopped a suspected truck (PRE–4363) near Wanda Banochi check post on Bannu DI Khan road and seized 600kg hashish from its hidden cavities.
“The contraband was being transported to Quetta (Balochistan) from the frontier tribal region of Darra Adamkhel”, he claimed. He said that police arrested two men onboard including truck driver and registered a case against them under relevant section of law. “The arrested accused persons were identified as Abdul Rashid resident of Loralai and Shah Alam, the resident of Matora village of Lakki Marwat”, he maintained. Riaz claimed that the arrested men belonged to an inter-provincial gang of narcotics smugglers and that police would tighten the noose around their remaining accomplices. Terming the recovery of huge quantity of hashish a major breakthrough he said that it would help police force to break the network of narcotics smugglers and bring them into the clutches of law. He announced commendation certificates and cash rewards for the police party and assured that the names of the cops who foiled the hashish smuggling bid would be recommended to the regional police officer for promotion.
