Lahore: Khusro escapes from court premises after bail rejection
LAHORE: Shan Khusro, son of Additional Federal Secretary Khusro Pervez, escaped from the court premises with the alleged help of police when the court refused to consider him innocent in the murder of his friend, Hamza Elahi, and cancelled his pre–arrest bail. Shan, who was on pre–arrest bail in the murder of his friend, appeared before the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Nisar Ahmad along with his counsels and recorded his statement. The counsels told the court that the Shan had not intentionally killed his friend Hamza. They asked the court to grant confirm bail to Shan as the incident was an accident.
Chaudhry Zulfqar and Sohail Dar, counsels of deceased’s father Fazal Elahi, opposed the contentions to grant confirm bail to the killer and argued that the murderer had intentionally killed Hamza, the only son of the trader. They alleged that Barki Police were creating hurdles in the arrest of culprit due to the pressure of his father, Khusro Pervez.
Investigation Officer Malik Tariq and prosecution also pleaded to cancel the bail. Additional District and Sessions Judge Nisar Ahmad recorded the arguments of both the parties and reserved the verdict until 10:30am of the same day.
At 10:30am, Shan Khusro, who was earlier present before the judge, disappeared from the court premises despite the police presence. The judged asked the police and Shan’ counsels to produce him before the court, but they failed to do so.
However, the judge cancelled the bail and ordered the police to arrest the killer of Hamza. Shah Alam Market traders and heirs of Hamza threatened to launch protests until Shan Khusro’s arrest.
“Despite the lapse of two weeks, police have not arrested Shan Khusro as they are protecting the killer,” Fazal Elahi, a trader of Shah Alam Market, said while talking to this scribe. Why police had not arrested the killer when the court cancelled his bail, Hamza’s father posed a query. He threatened to launch protest against the biased behaviour of investigation police.
The investigation officer told this scribe that Shan had been escaped with the help of lawyers before the announcement of the verdict.
