Rahim Yar Khan: 7 ‘outlaws’ shot dead
RAHIM YAR KHAN: Seven robbers were killed in shootouts with police here the other day. According to detail, a gang of robbers stormed into a house in Chak-45 in Liaqatpur. However, following a tip-off, the police reached the spot but the robbers opened firing on them. Meanwhile, two robbers were killed in crossfire while five other were arrested. However, when the police were shifting the robbers, they attacked the police personnel and manage to escape from the police custody. The fleeing robbers took away official arms from the cops and also snatched a car from a local resident.
Following the incident, the district police launched hectic searching and set up pickets at all entry and exit points of the district.
According to police sources, at a checkpoint in Sadiqabad circle, the robbers were chased and ordered to surrender but they turned on their guns on the police which was retaliated by the police. The shootout continued between the police and robbers for some hours. Resultantly, five robbers died on the spot.
It is to be noted that soon after the shootout erupted, ASP Tanveer and police contingent from other police stations also reached the spot. The police recovered 2 Kalashnikovs and three pistols from the robbers. Later, the gang was identified as “Bhatti gang.” The dead bodies were shifted to local hospital and were handed over to a local NGO after autopsy. Later, the NGO buried them after funeral ceremony.
