Karachi: 5 gangsters among 8 rounded up
KARACHI: Law–enforcement agencies claimed to have apprehended eight suspects in raids on different parts of the city on Wednesday. In a raid on Laasi Goth of New Karachi, three suspects, Ramzan, Shehzad and Nazim, were arrested. According to SP Noman Siddiqui, the arrests were made on a tip-off. He said the arrested men were members of a dacoit gang and they recently killed two of their companions, namely Ismail and Ameer, whose bodies were recovered from New Karachi area on June 18. Siddiqui further said they killed their companions over a monetary row. In another raid on Old City areas, the Sindh Rangers arrested five gangsters, including Irfan alias Yamaha, a close aide of Lyari gangster Taj Mohammad alias Taju.
According to sources, the Rangers had been tipped off about the presence of some gangsters in the area. The sources further said the arrested suspects were involved in various cases of crime, including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and drug peddling. Two hand grenades and weapons were seized from them. Further investigation is in progress.
