Hafizabad: Misappropriation of Rs 500,000; Civil judge, reader found guilty
HAFIZABAD: The Lahore High Court Chief Justice’s Vigilance Committee has held former senior civil judge and his reader responsible for misappropriating Rs 500,000 deposited by a lawyer as surety six years ago. Dr Rukhsana had filed a case against Dr Mubashar in the court of the then senior civil judge Khizar Hayat Gondal who ordered to deposit of Rs 500,000 as surety. Later, the petitioner withdrew the case and demanded refund of the surety amount. It was known that the judge and his reader Nazir Barkullah had withdrawn the amount instead of depositing it to the national exchequer. The aggrieved doctor contacted the LHC CJ Vigilance Committee, which held the judge, who is presently serving as additional sessions judge in Khanewal, and his reader Barkhaullah responsible. On the orders of the committee, the amount has been returned to the doctor. Barakullah has been declared a proclaimed offender in the case.
