Karachi: 2 alleged target killers arrested
KARACHI: Two alleged target killers, accused of murdering more than two dozen people, were apprehended by police after raids on their hideouts on Saturday. Station House Officer (SHO) Amanullah Marwat of the Quaidabad police station, said his team raided the Star Ground area after a tip-off about the presence of some criminals in the locality. The suspects opened fire as soon as they saw the police approach, which was retaliated in full force. After a brief encounter, the police arrested Jehanzaib alias Fauji, but his accomplices managed to escape. Police also recovered a Kalashnikov from the suspect.
During investigation, the accused confessed that he had killed 20 people, including several activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and was associated with a political party.
During a recent wave of violence in Saudabad, the man had killed six people, and injured 15 others. He also confessed to murdering three MQM workers in Mehmoodabad, two in Quaidabad, three in Orangi Town, two in Shah Faisal Colony, and two on Sharea Faisal, SHO Marwat said.
In a separate case, Faisal alias Sagar of the banned Peoples Amn Committee was arrested by the Crime Branch police after a brief shoot–out, when the law enforcers raided his hideout in Lyari’s Lea Market area.
SSP Mohammad Farooq Awan said the man belonged to the Wasee alias Lakho group; however his accomplice managed to flee the scene. The police also recovered a pistol from his possession.
During initial investigation, the man confessed to having murdered four people in the Baghdadi police limits.
