Karachi: 2 target killers among 6 overpowered in raids
KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies claimed to have apprehended six criminals, including two target killers, in separate raids carried out in the metropolis on Saturday. A suspect, allegedly involved in about 19 target killing cases, was apprehended from Qauidabad locality, disclosed SP Malir, Zahid Hussain at a press briefing. He informed that the suspect, Jehanzaib alias Fauji was arrested along with a weapon. “Affiliated with the Mohajir Qaumi Movement–Haqiqi (MQM–H), he was involved in killings of religious and political parties workers, especially of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in Shah Faisal Colony, Orangi Town, Mehmoodabad, Khokhrapar and Sherpao Colony areas,” he added.
Separately, Crime Branch I police claimed to have arrested a notorious Lyari gangster from Lea Market besides recovering a weapon from his possession. SSP Farooq Awan said that a police party raided a place in Lea Market on a tip-off and arrested Faisal alias Sagar. He said that the accused belonged to Taj Mohammad alias Taju gang and was arrested on the pointation of Irfan Yamaha who was arrested two days ago. During interrogation, he confessed to have been involved in target killings as well as extortion cases.
East Investigation Range and Gulistan-e-Jauhar police claimed to have arrested a target killer, Shuja Hashmi, from Jauhar Morr, Gulistan–e–Jauhar, besides recovering a kalashnikov and a TT pistol from his possession. A police official said that the accused was involved in more than 80 cases of target killing and was bailed out recently after being arrested a few years ago. A police official said that he had several cases registered in different police stations.
Moreover, Pirabad police claimed to have arrested three extortionists from Qasba Colony, recovering weapons from their possession. A police official claimed that Kashif, Amjad Hussain and Mohammad Alam were arrested along with two repeaters, a TT pistol and extortion slips. The accused are involved in several cases of extortion. Further investigation was underway.
