Karachi: Charge sheet submitted against 4 ‘robbers’
KARACHI: A challan against four men, accused of robbing a number of commuters in the Old Sabzi Mandi area, was submitted before the court of Judicial Magistrate (East) Zakaullah Abro on Friday. Investigation Officer Sajjad Mehmood, who submitted the challan, informed the court that the four men, Muhammad Tariq, Abdul Hamid, Kamran and Shahbaz Ashraf, had adopted a strategy of robbing passengers at gunpoint in buses (including those of route numbers G-3 and 11–C). They snatched cell phones, purses, cash, watches and other valuables from commuters and also robbed passers-by in the limits of the PIB police station.
The accused men would be tried on the charges of robbery, possession of illegal arms, attempt to murder etc. The investigation officer told the court that two accomplices of the accused, Adeel Asghar and Waqar, were still on the loose and had connections with “gang war” criminals. The two absconders were assigned to supply illegal arms to the four detained men.
