Lahore: Railways’ former GM on judicial remand
LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday sent Railways former general manager operations Saeed Akhtar to jail on a 14–day judicial remand. The National Accountability Bureau had arrested him from Islamabad for his alleged misappropriation in railways scrap sale. The NAB alleged that Akhtar caused a huge loss to the national exchequer by selling railways scrap on a price lesser than the market value. It also accused him of purchasing substandard oil that made many locomotives out of order and misappropriation in “Business Train” project. The court sent him on a judicial remand after completion of his physical remand.
