Mardan: Cop charged with firing at judge’s wife
MARDAN: The police on Friday booked a cop allegedly involved in firing on a lady doctor, the wife of a judge, last month in the limits of City Police Station, official sources said. A policeman Ejaz Khan reported to the police that while serving with the Anti–Terrorism Court (ATC) Swat Judge Mohammad Iqbal Khan, he was taking the judge’s wife Dr Nasim Akhtar to her clinic on Shamsi Road, Mardan on May 29.
He said that an unidentified gunman opened fire on them as they left for the clinic but they escaped unhurt. The sources said the police initiated probe into the incident and booked Constable Mohammad Bilal, a resident of Mohallah Gulbahar Kas Koroona in Mardan, who had also served as guard with the judge. The motive behind the incident could not be ascertained.
