Karachi: Robber posing as KESC man shot dead
KARACHI: An alleged bandit was killed during a robbery bid in a house in the Shah Faisal Colony police limits. According to police, five armed men rang the bell of Rehman’s house situated in Green Town in Shah Faisal Colony and told him that they had come from the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to check the electricity meter.
As soon as Rehman opened the gate, the armed men took Rehman inside the house where they called the rest of his family members and took them hostage in a room.Upon hearing screams of the women, Rehman’s son Asad woke up from sleep, took out his pistol and rushed to the room where his family had been taken hostage. He opened fire on the intruders due to which one of them sustained injuries while his four accomplices fled.
Upon hearing gunshots, the neighbours immediately informed police, following which a police mobile van reached the house and took the injured to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in a critical condition.
During the initial interrogation, the injured suspect disclosed his name as Munir Bhatti, 36. He breathed his last before getting any medical aid. Police claimed to have recovered one TT pistol, looted cash and a motorcycle from the spot.
