LAHORE: ‘Spiritual leader’ set free in rape case
LAHORE: Additional District & Sessions Judge Javed Iqbal Shaikh on Monday issued orders to release a fake spiritual leader (Peer) allegedly involved in a rape case after the girl-petitioner admitted that she had got registered an FIR against the peer over some misunderstanding. The judge issued the orders to release accused Muhammad Ashraf, a spiritual leader, after petitioner Neha alias Ulfat Bibi submitted that she had got registered an FIR against him owing to some misunderstanding. She admitted that Ashraf had not raped her.
Manga Mandi Police had registered an FIR against Muhammad Ashraf on the complaint of Neha alias Ulfat Bibi under section 376 of PPC. She had stated in the FIR that her husband used to scuffle with her on petty issues and, one day, a woman named Shamim Bibi told her that she would take her to Muhammad Ashraf who would give her an amulet to bring her husband on right track. On January 15, she along with Shamim went to see the spiritual leader who asked her to live with him if she wanted to bring her husband on right track. The spiritual leader also ensured her that her husband would come there and bow down before her.
On night, the spiritual leader raped her, she said in the FIA, adding that the spiritual leader raped her many times for the next few days. One day, by luck, she ran from the house of Peer and told the police about the incident, according to the FIR.
